Professor Ivan Darby

Professor Ivan Darby is Head of Periodontics and is responsible for the Melbourne Dental School's specialisation program in Periodontics, DClinDent(Perio). In addition, he also has involvement in the Grad Dip Clin Dent (implants), DDS, BDSc and BOH periodontics and implant surgery components. Ivan is also Director of Graduate Studies and Head of Population Oral Health and Periodontics section.

Professor Darby also practices as a Periodontist in Moonee Ponds. Ivan is the immediate past President of the ANZ division and the Asia Pacific Region of the IADR. In addition, he has been president of the Australian Society of Periodontology  (Victorian branch) and Editor of the Society’s federal journal, Periodontology. An active researcher Ivan has supervised four PhD students in the last ten years as well as many DCD projects. He has published on periodontal pathogenesis, microbiology and treatment outcomes, as well as implant dentistry. Ivan is also an active local, national and international speaker.
